Having the ears stand up is called “cropping.” And trust me, you don’t want to do it, it’s a horrible stage you go through and you will feel so bad. If your looking for a homeless pet, might I suggest petfinder.com?

French Bulldogs ears should stand naturally, they are not cropped. I would say at least 98% of all Frenchie puppies ears stand, and the rest of them the ears do not stand. They should be standing a little by the time that they are 8 weeks old, and should defiantly be up by 6 months. If you wanted one that they ears never are going to stand you would have to find an adult. It would be almost impossible to buy a Frenchie puppy that its ears would never stand.

The ears are a prized trait in the breed, so they have be selectively breed for the ears to stand. They used to have the same ear as the English, but through selective breeding they now stand. They are the only breed with the trademark Bat ear.

If you prefer a drop ear breed, you could try an English Bulldog or a Pug. You will be getting a similar temperament as the Frenchie, but without the standing ears. You can also try looking at a Frenchie rescue, as they occasionally get adults that have a drop ear.

@Mandi E.:
French bulldog’s ears stand up naturally, it is not a process achieved through any animal cruelty. You would probably know that if you knew anything about our breed.
