i want him to get a mixed breed or something from the pound, but he refuses, he really wants to get a french bulldog.

Check your state for a French Bulldog rescue. Best of both worlds… rescue a dog and get a purebred.
Some people fall in love with purebred dogs, or don’t like the risk of what they might get if they adopt from a shelter. True, shelters you are saving dogs when thousands need to be saved everyday, but it sounds like your dad has his mind set on a frenchie and you should roll with it. Not just that, I prefer to get dogs from when they are puppies. Not because they are so cute, but because it’s easier to train and form them into the dogs you want!
Here are some websites and links to the French Bulldog, as well a rescuing center that maybe you want to try to convince your dad to go too:=
Rescues are 25% purebred dogs.
The link given above for Frenchie Rescue is a great one. So is
If he’s really pushing for a non-rescue puppy, that’s fine. He just needs to use a responsible breeder. They have minimal impact on the number of dogs sent to shelters.

Added: If your dad is a truck driver, who is going to take care of the dog? What about after you move out and he’s still on the road? Pleae, be sure to think about where the entire household will be 15 years down the road.
