My French Bulldog had 8 puppies without a c-section?
Suzie Q asked:
We had 2 X-ray’s on our Frenchy to see how many puppies our French Bulldog was going to have to deliver. The Vet told us to expect around 4 according to the X-ray. Then 2 wks later another X-Ray and they said expect around 5 pups no more than 6. When she gave birth without problems she had 8 puppies. Is this normal? Because from my research and communicating with my Vet and a friend who is also a Vet this is rare event to deliver 8 puppies. Is this TRUE?
the pups are now 5 wks old and she is a great mother. She is weaning them. I have also been giving them puppy formula mixed with high quality puppy food into a mush…They are very healthy and vibrant puppies and we are excited to have them…
This is her very first Litter…

yeah it is i mean look at her size she mustve been huge prior to birth good luck with them
It is a large litter for a frenchy.Xrays aren’t very accurate, puppies are miscounted often.
Xrays aren’t very accurate. It is unusual for a Frenchie to free whelp. Their puppies often get stuck because of their big heads.
Wow what a clever frenchy! Yep its pretty unusual for her to
a)have a litter this big and b)deliver naturally. They usually have to have a c-section cause they have small hips and big heads, do the math, ouchie!
You’re lucky – eight puppies!!! That is a big litter, but i have heard that the more litters they have the more pups they can have – dunno if it’s true
how lucky are you!!
that is a pretty good size litter, especially for a purebred dog, and it’s sort of amazing they all got out ok with no problems.
i have a large female this is her first time an she is doing great her pups are due in dec17 2011,she has wide hips ,just wondering if she will have them naturally
