Name suggestions for a female French Bulldog?
Launi ~And the Thunder Rolls~ asked:
I have not been able to ‘rescue’. Been trying for 5 years to get a rescue Frenchie. No luck. Found a reputable breeder in TN. She has 2 puppies (brother and sister) who are about 6 months. She cannot show them because they came out on the smaller side of breed specifications.

I picked the female. She is the ‘marble’ color of Frenchies. Her name is Marble. I will be changing that.
Remember this is a BULLDOG. Just a small bulldog. Bully breed. No cutesy names. Cannot stand names like “Poppy, Sugar” etc.
Does not have to be solely female names. Just some good ideas for a small bulldog. (No French names please)
(Regulars: I PROMISE this is the last time I will post this kind of question!)
Poppy? I did that on purpose. I was hoping you would catch it!!!!!!!!
Bobbie L: Because the last time I asked this for a friend someone came up with the PERFECT name. I am terrible with names. Sorry, dear.

-Georgia
-Rio
-Jace
-Alex
-Maggie
-Maxie
Sorry if that really doesn’t help…I was trying to stay away from girly names.
YOUR dog, YOUR decision. Once again, you are the one who has to live with the dog’s name for it’s lifetime, so why ask a bunch of total strangers online? Normal people name their dogs once they get to know their personalities.
Hey my aunts Springer was called Poppy, and she was no ‘cutesy’, in fact a hard working gundog!
Anyway, Stitch? They look like Stitch from Lilo and Stitch..
Hermione
Jazz
River
ooo this is hard!
Lola
Narla
Nora
Chops
Maivis
Ok, I give up… any pictures of the cutey??
Actually, marble is the perfect name for her. Marble isn’t too fem or too masc, and it certainly describes her color, as well as her ‘toughness’ so to speak. marble is a hard crystalline metamorphic rock that takes a high polish; used for sculpture and as building material, so sturdy aand strong come to mind.
But if you dont like it, why not try, Piper or Pepper maybe try Maggie, or Riley. Riley is my favorite out of all because it doesn’t define the dogs gender, ( meaning its not girly) and it certainly suits her face. (if thats a pic of her, im assuming.) Well, good luck!
LOL!
Launi, I was about to answer this and tell them to work out a name for their own dayum dog, and then I realised you posted it!
Just get the pup, and something will come to you.
That is a challenge. How about Hummer or Jeep for a tough built dog?
I always like the name Patches for a speckled dog or a black and white dog.
Maybe you want a name like Jasper (from the French aspercu for spotted)
How about Tuffy – Frenchy – Madeleine – Jackie
Marbre is French for marble but what about Marbie?
How about a French army name like Lejeune (you can pronounce the French or American way)
I checked a thesaurus under marbled and it came up with these–
mottled, speckled, blotchy, checkered, dappled, flecked, freckled, maculate, marbled, motley, piebald, pied, skewbald, spotted, streaked, tabby, variegated
I like skewbald ! What do you think?
I just read another answer about crystalline rock and made me think of another name — Rocky ! ! !
Spirit
Chaos
Sabre
Indy
Stetson
Bacio (Bacho-kiss in Italian)

Luna ~ French for moon. I have always liked the name & will one day use it…
Seren ~ Welsh for star.
Everyone is allowed a brief visit to the dark side of the dog section!!!!
I know you don’t want french names but there are some really unusual names on this site, scroll down a little..
What my daughter did was name her dogs after Drinks..
Martini
Rossi

Olive..
I’ve always been a fan of unisex names… Toni, Teri, Billie.
Serious or silly, evocative or ironic–whatever you decide to christen your dog, it better be something you’re comfortable both printing on veterinary forms as well as yelling at the top of your lungs from the other side of the park.
Lexi(e), Penelope (penny), Haley, Zoe, lucy, nellie

Congrats on the new family member. First name that popped into my head is “Venice”. Other suggestions would be Vienna or Milan. Happy New Year!
LMAO that someone actually suggested “Hummer.” Maybe I’m just immature, but that made me giggle.
I am also really bad at thinking of names which is why I am usually too lazy to change them, hence why I have a dog named Ozzy. Ugh.
Anyway, definitly not any foo-foo names. I tend to like gender neutral names, like Riley (my dog), Matty… I also like Denali after the mountain not the car. Or Arcadia, like the park.
I’m sure I wasn’t helpful, but congrats on your new pup anyway!
