What kind of dog should my aunt get?

Hallie.! asked:

My aunt is looking to get a french bulldog or pug. Not a puppy, since she works. She’s already got a cat. Her cat is very low maintenance, he just sits there like a vegetable.
Which one should she get?

Bulldogs are more high energy. She should get a pug at a local shelter since she wants an older dog. is a great great place to find one.

if she wants one for fun and protection a lab is great
but if she needs a lap dog that loves to be held and
talked to a Maltese is good.
i have one of each and they are great friends

Sort of depends on her cat and whether the critter’ll like having a dog around… Older dogs that come from rescue usually come with “issues” and may not like being around cats or other dogs… Because French Bulldogs and Pugs have eyes that bulge, a cat may not necessarily make the ideal companion either since the corneas could suffer scratches or other injuries… If your aunt tries to adopt, the foster family will usually describe whether the dog can be around cats or other dogs, or children, and, then people can send in their applications accordingly… The national rescue organizations are and – The other option is to contact hobby breeders and ask if they have older retirees that would like a permanent and loving home.

Best wishes in your endeavors : )
